Security that covers the whole property, not just the front door

Cameras, alarms and smart entry for Southern Highlands homes, sheds and rural properties. Designed as one system, installed under a master security licence, and looked after by the same local team afterwards.

Most security gets bought one piece at a time

And none of it ends up talking to each other

A camera goes up by the front door after something happens down the road. A year later there's a doorbell camera living in a different app. Then a shed alarm from the hardware store, a keypad on the gate that two people know the code for, and footage nobody can get at when it's actually needed.

Each piece made sense on the day. Together they don't cover the property.

We'd rather walk the property first, work out what you're actually trying to protect, and design one system around it — so the cameras, the alarm and the entry all run from the same place, and you're not opening four apps to work out what happened.

Licensed, and why that matters

Installing security equipment in NSW isn't general handyman work. The business needs a master security licence, and the person doing the install needs one of their own. We hold Master Security Licence No. 000108434, and we're registered cablers for the wiring that goes with it.

It's the difference between a system someone is accountable for, and a few cameras screwed to a wall by whoever was free that week.

We're a multiple-time winner of the Southern Highlands Local Business Awards for Specialised Services, and we're up the road — not a subcontractor dispatched from Sydney.

What we design and install

Cameras worth looking back at

Placed so the footage is actually usable — faces at the gate, registrations on the driveway, the shed door and the yard. Not six wide shots of the same lawn.

Recording sits on hardware at your property, so there’s no monthly fee to watch your own cameras.

Alarms

We install both Ubiquiti and Ajax, and we’ll usually point you to Ubiquiti — not because Ajax isn’t good, but because the Ubiquiti alarm runs in the same system as the cameras. One app for both, instead of two.

Door, window and motion sensors through the house and the outbuildings, built for the distances a rural property throws at them. Arm and disarm from your phone, and know the moment something trips.

Smart entry and access

Gates, doors and intercoms you manage yourself. Issue a code or a fob for a cleaner or a trade, revoke it when they’re done, and see a record of who came and went.

Video intercom, so you can see and talk to whoever’s at the gate from wherever you are.

Getting it out to the sheds

Cameras are only as good as the Wi-Fi behind them

Outdoor cameras, sheds and the far end of the property are usually the first places Wi-Fi gives up — and a camera with nothing to connect to is just an ornament. Extending networks across a property is a service in its own right for us, and we're registered cablers, so the wiring is done properly and to standard.

“Images can be zoomed in to reveal faces or registrations of vehicles, and it is instantly sent to my telephone wherever we happen to be. As it happens, I was overseas shortly after the installation, and I was able to review activity at home. The Techery people are easy to deal with and knowledgeable with technology which is way outside my field of expertise. Their work is neat and the installation was completed within a couple of weeks from placing the order. I would confidently recommend them to anyone seeking to enhance home or property security.”

Common Questions

How many cameras do we actually need?

Usually fewer than people expect. It's about where they point, not how many there are. On the pre-site we walk the property and find the handful of places that genuinely earn a camera.

Can I add to what I've already got?

Often, yes. If the existing cabling and cameras are decent we'll use them, and tell you honestly which bits are worth keeping. What we won't do is bolt new gear onto something that was never going to hold up.
Is there a monthly fee?

Not for your footage. It records to hardware at your property rather than someone else's cloud, so you're not subscribing to watch your own cameras.

What happens when something trips?

You get told — a notification to your phone, a call if you've set it up that way, and the footage there to look at. You decide what happens next. We're not a monitoring centre and we won't pretend to be. If you'd rather talk something through before you act on it, give us a ring — we're always happy to take a look with you.
What about the sheds and the far end of the property?

That's normally the real job. Cameras out there need power and a network to reach them. Extending a network across a property is a service in its own right for us, and we're registered cablers, so the wiring is done to standard. Where a spot needs its own power supply, we'll bring in a solar specialist rather than guess at it. It's all worked out on the pre-site, before anyone quotes a camera.

Will the cameras see into my neighbour's place?

We position them to cover your property, and walk the sightlines with you on site. Audio is a separate matter and we'd generally leave it off. If you want certainty for your own situation it's worth a quick word with your council — we'll tell you what the cameras can see, not what the law says.

Why The Techery

We live here too. We know which roads go dark, which properties have a kilometre of driveway, and what a Highlands winter does to gear that wasn't specified for it.

We build the foundation first — the cabling, the network, the cabinet everything plugs into. Get that right and you can add a camera at the new shed in two years without pulling the whole thing apart. That's the difference between a system and a collection.

Want to see it working before you commit? Book a complimentary pre-site and we'll come to you, or visit us at Shop 5, The Mill Bowral.
