Wi-Fi that reaches the whole property, not just the lounge room

Strong, reliable coverage across the house, the shed, the studio and everything in between. Designed on site, cabled properly, and looked after by the same local team afterwards.

Why the extender didn’t fix it

Most people try the cheap fix first — a plug-in booster from the hardware shop, or a second router at the other end of the house. It rarely works, and there’s a good reason why.

A booster listens to your Wi-Fi and re-broadcasts it using the same radio. Doing both jobs at once roughly halves the speed every time the signal hops. Put two in a row and there isn’t much left by the time it reaches you.

There’s a second problem. Nothing is directing traffic, so your phone hangs onto the weak signal it already has instead of switching to the stronger one in the next room. That’s how you end up standing in the kitchen with two bars, watching a video buffer.

More boxes won’t fix it. Putting the signal where you actually need it will.

How we do it properly

  • We walk the property first. Before we quote anything, we come out and look — where the walls are solid, where the tin roof sits, how far the shed really is, and which rooms you actually use. Coverage is a design decision, not a guess.
  • Access points, not boosters. We install proper access points, the same kind used in offices and hotels, positioned where the coverage needs to be.
  • The cable does the heavy lifting. Each access point gets its own cable running back to the main connection, carrying both the data and the power. Nothing is competing for airtime, so you get full speed at the far end of the house instead of half of it.
  • One network name, everywhere. You connect once. Walk from the kitchen to the shed and your phone hands over quietly in the background — no second network to pick from, no dropping the call halfway down the driveway.
  • Built on Ubiquiti UniFi. Professional-grade equipment rather than a consumer box from the shop. If something isn’t right, log it with us and we can often look into it remotely before anyone drives out — and come out when it needs hands on it.

Getting it to the shed, the studio and the granny flat

This is the job we get called about most, and it’s where a bit of planning earns its keep.

If we can run a cable, we will. A cable to an outbuilding is the most reliable thing you can do. It isn’t bothered by weather, trees, or how many neighbours are streaming.

If there’s no cable path, we bridge it. Where trenching isn’t practical, we can put in a point-to-point link — a pair of units with line of sight to each other, one at the house and one at the shed. A proper dedicated link, not a booster trying to grab a weak signal out of the air.

We coordinate the rest. Trenching, conduit, aerial runs — we work with the right people to get it done properly, rather than leaving you to organise it.

Already on Starlink? Same job. Getting Starlink installed is one thing; getting it to reach the far end of a rural property is another, and the second half is often what we’re called for.

“Can’t tell you how happy I am to get the internet to all corners of my property, and especially the studio where I work in. This company knows everything about getting your wifi extended. Reuben was so good on giving advice and now I also have a happy teenager too. Highly recommend this company, they are very professional.”

Common questions

  • Why isn’t a better router enough?
A router broadcasts from one spot. If that spot is the far corner of the house where the internet comes in, a stronger one just makes a slightly bigger circle from the same corner. Moving the signal closer to where you use it beats making it shout louder.
  • Will you have to run cable through my house?
Usually some, yes — often less than people expect, because ceiling cavities and existing conduit do a lot of the work. We’ll show you where it needs to go before we start, and we’re tidy about it.
  • Can you get Wi-Fi to the shed?
Yes. Cable if there’s a path, a point-to-point link if there isn’t. Distance is rarely the blocker — line of sight and power at the far end matter more.
  • Is mesh good enough?
Sometimes, in a smaller home. Mesh nodes still talk to each other over the air, so they share the same trade-off as a booster, just more politely. Where we can cable, we cable — and we’ll tell you honestly which one your place actually needs.
  • How long does it take?
A straightforward home is usually a day, and a larger property with outbuildings can run to two. Often though, extending the Wi-Fi is one part of a bigger job — surveillance, access control, a full network — and those take longer. We’ll give you a firm answer after the pre-site, not before.
  • What happens if the coverage still isn’t right?
We don’t leave until it’s tested. We walk the property with you at handover and check the spots that mattered to you. If something we installed isn’t performing, that’s ours to fix.
  • What if the problem is my internet, not my Wi-Fi?
Worth knowing they’re two different things. Wi-Fi is how the signal moves around your property; your internet connection is what comes in from outside. If the connection itself is the issue we’ll tell you straight — and since we do NBN, Starlink and rural internet too, we can usually sort it at the same time.
  • Do you only do homes?
No. Sheds, studios, granny flats, offices, cafés and event spaces as well. See business technology →

Why The Techery

We come and look first. Every job starts with a complimentary pre-site. We don’t quote coverage off a floor plan or a phone call.

Local, not outsourced. The person who designs it installs it, and the person you ring afterwards already knows your setup. No interstate call centre.

We do the connection as well as the coverage. NBN, Starlink, rural internet, networking and security — designed to work as one system rather than a patchwork of separate providers.

Registered cablers. Cabling that connects to the telecommunications network has to be done by a registered cabler. That’s the law, not a preference — and it’s who does it here.

4.9 stars from more than 110 local reviews.
